A Scrumptious Spring Lunch
With its verdant, resort-style surroundings situated near 34 acres of historic gardens, Terraces at The Ambassador Gardens comes into its own during spring. So, we don’t blame you for wanting to show it off. Host a scrumptious spring lunch for friends and family — and flaunt your home while you’re at it.
Picking Up Ingredients
First things first: tasty, organic ingredients for your spring spread. Pasadena bustles with boutique grocery stores, plus some big-name shops, for all your foodie needs. Howie’s Market is a 10-minute drive for Terraces residents, and it’s chock-full with prime cuts of meat, fresh seafood, and farm-to-table vegetables, as well as toothsome cakes and pies. Ralphs, meanwhile, is just a minute walk from home. It’s great for picking up organic beets, scallions, avocados, and baby spinach for a last-minute spring salad. Their deli is stocked with specialty cheeses, cured meats, hummus, and more. While you’re out, remember to pick up a few bottles of organic rosé from the Everson Royce wine boutique.
Prepping Is Part of the Party
Preparing meals is a joy in itself, thanks to the Terraces’ elegant and practical chef’s kitchens. The open-aspect design — with kitchen islands overlooking bright living spaces, which themselves open onto patios and terraces — means you can still be part of the party while you’re turning out the treats. Chop salads and slice vegetables on the Caesarstone countertops, roast meat in the Wolf stainless-steel oven, and keep guests topped up with that chilled rosé, plucked from the built-in Sub-Zero refrigerator.
Time to Tuck In
Condo, townhome, or penthouse; the residences’ private patios and terraces make idyllic spots for serving. Whether you’ve decided on cheese boards, charcuterie and salads, or a hot dish, like this delicious spring lamb in herbs recipe with a side of honey-glazed carrots, the fresh Pasadena air will pair perfectly with the food. Accompany lunch with a soundtrack of local artists — think Herbie Lewis and Judy Niemack — or simply let the sound of local birdsong work its magic.
A Post-Dinner Stroll
With lunch a roaring success, you can while away the rest of the afternoon strolling along the lush, green walkways that wind their way around the European-inspired residences. Finish up at the Terraces’ jewel in the crown: the historic 34-acre Ambassador Gardens. Here, you can take in the fragrance of fresh jasmine, watch colorful koi carp in the ornamental pond, and rest in the shade of the mighty cedars. Just be aware: Your guests may enjoy lunch so much that they invite themselves to stay for dinner.
